From Seed to Plant, by Gail Gibbons

From School Library Journal

Kindergarten-Grade 2-- A simple introduction to how plants reproduce, discussing pollination, seed dispersal, and growth from seed to plant. The section on pollination, covered in detail in the illustrations, is very clear. A simple project--how to grow a bean plant--is included. A final page gives odd and unusual facts. Unfortunately, the text is pedestrian and occasionally awkward. The boldly colored illustrations are casual, somewhat careless, and some plants are hard to recognize. Other books cover the same subject with more excitement in language and zest in visual design. Bean and Plant (Silver Burdett, 1986) by Back, Reason for a Flower (Putnam, 1983) by Heller, or Lauber's Seeds: Pop, Stick, Glide (Crown, 1981) are better titles. --Sharon Levin, University of Vermont, BurlingtonCopyright 1991 Reed Business Information, Inc.

love this book!!!!it is simple, easy to read/explain. the illustrations are very lovely!my son is 6, i believe it is a bit too advanced for him. we will save it for later!!

I bought this to teach Life Science in kindergarden. I can not wait. We are going g to pair this with planting an herb garden.

Lots of words and technical definitions. Probably better for an older child. Very informative.

This book was about growing a seed into a plant. My daughter absolutely loved this book and will read it over and over. The illustrations are beautiful and the information is good. I have been encouraging her to read more on her own (she's 7 years old) so it helps to find books that she loves and will read over and over. I especially like the fact that it's educational. ;-)

excellent for preschool, kinder, first and second!

This was part of a gardening present I gave my my grandkids for Eastet. They were growing seeds on the windowsill . As we read the book there were many "Hey, that's what our seeds are doing now !" comments.

Gail Gibbons is a wonderful author. Her books on the world around us are always perfect. I teach gardening to my preschool grandchildren and at our elementary school. The lesson frequently starts with a book by Gail Gibbons.

Great book to teach lessons! I used it for a 2nd grade class
